Hand Building 1.5: 6 weeks Wednesday Afternoon 1:30pm-4pm

Level: Beginning – Intermediate
Going beyond the basics of creating clay objects by hand using the methods of coil construction, soft & hard slab and the most basic of pinch. You will learn how to use the slab roller, extruder, slump, hump and sprig molds and other various tools to give your pottery texture and diverse, interesting structure. Create sculpture or larger functional pottery that is not easily attained on the pottery wheel to use in your daily life.
Looking for a little bit more of a challenge and want to put the basics that you learned in Hand building I to the test? This is the class for you! Push your knowledge to new heights and begin to experiment with new forms in a class that will give you a creative boost you’ve been searching for.
Special Notes
- This Class is Handicap Accessable and located on the first level. There are no stairs to access this class from the street or parking area behind the building.
- Bring inspiring pictures or items to stamp into the clay if you have them.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
- Trim nails short and leave rings/watches at home
- Free Parking in back
- 8 person maximum (wait-list is available for additional people)

Victor Jimenez

Victor Hugo Jimenez is a ceramic artist who is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Victor is a studio technician and instructor at Cream City Clay supporting our artist community in self expression. Victor is also an Artist Educator working within Milwaukee Public Schools to provide young artists the tools and knowledge to expand their creative journeys.
