Have something fun to look forward to on your winter break getting your hands into clay by sculpting by hand. Make fun cups, bowls, planters or silly creature sculptures to decorate your room. Choose from 4 video lessons and attend a personalized zoom class for demonstrations and inspiration .

Recommended video by age: Video 1 ages 6-9, Video 2 ages 10-14, Video 3 ages 14-17, Video 4 College.  Choose the one you like the best. Links will be emailed to you.

Call to schedule a time to come in to pick up your kit. It will include a work board, clay tools, under-glazes & brush, instructional video and zoom link for personalized instruction. Zoom instruction is not required but it may be helpful.

Bring back your finished items to fire in a kiln. We kindly ask that you return your kit in good clean condition when you drop off your pottery to be fired. Your pottery will first be bisque fired and then glazed fired with a food-safe clear glaze.

Pick up your items. You will receive a call in about 2-3 weeks when your pottery is ready for pick up. We will hold the items for 60 days.

*Note the class is intended for the ages 6 and above listed above. The materials are not intended for children younger than 6. Children should be supervised when completing the projects to ensure the best possible results. We can only fire the project options outlined in the class using the clay and under-glaze provided. Any additional projects made will not be fired. If any materials are used outside of the ones provided or any foreign materials are used the projects will not be fired. All clay projects must be less than 3/4″ to be fired. No solid objects or completely closed items with trapped air will be fired.

Staff

  • Alanis Wagner
    Alanis Wagner is currently a senior at UWM majoring in art education with an emphasis in ceramics. She loves to teach children and inspire creativity. Alanis has experience in hand-building as well as throwing on the wheel. She has taught both adult and children's classes at Cream City Clay for 3 years.  Her energy is contagious and her classes are fun.
  • Liz Lewandowski
    Liz has a BA from Concordia College, WI. She is an extremely talented hand-builder and sculptor. She has taught classes for CCC since 2014, many of her own unique design. Liz is also the head of glaze mixing and kiln operation.  Thanks to her we have 21 hand-mixed glazes, 8 slips and 4 oxide washes. In addition she keeps 3 kilns firing up to 3 times per week, all while keeping a wicked sense of humor. “I’m an Illustrator by trade but have found a special place in my heart for ceramics. I enjoy making 3d pieces of art and then incorporating drawings and designs in the the surface.
