Mosaics: Spring 1, 5 weeks Mondays 6:30pm-9:00

Level: Beginner-Intermediate

In this five session mosaic class you will hand form your own clay pieces into tiles or (tesserae)”  that will fit together to create a central design. Experiment with colored clay and find dynamic relationships between texture and imagery when making tiles. Fill in extra space with found or purchased objects like, glass, wood, broken ceramics. The tiles and additional objects will be glued and grouted on a ceramic surface you will make in class  or you can bring an object of your choice to mosaic like small end table, stool or lazy susan.

Special Notes

• All participants must wear a mask and keep 6′ between one another
• Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
• Students will need to have a pair of dis-washing gloves or disposable gloves for grouting
• A neutral grey grout will be provided. If desired students can purchase a grout from a hardware store in a color of their choice. Discuss your options with instructor before shopping.
